Birds

Birds hit the windows
     searching for pine forests
and birch ledges.
The woods seal themselves up,
doors barred with branches,
     gateways sealed with sedge.
Bulrushes, rushed by,
     whisper to each other with harsh
     whish whish whoosh.
Birds batter themselves on windows
     slammed shut to keep the secrets in.
